Home to an almost overwhelming number of taprooms, LoSo is the hot spot for those who appreciate a good locally brewed beer – although there are also a generous number of restaurants, shops and fitness facilities in the neighborhood, as well. Easily accessible via Charlotte’s Lynx Light Rail transportation system, residents of LoSo can spend an afternoon embarking on their very own brewery tour – some of our favorite stops include Olde Mecklenburg Brewery (Charlotte’s oldest and largest craft brewery and beer garden, known for offering its house brews in a lively setting), GoodRoad Ciderworks (a “rustic-chic” locale offering a rotating selection of artisanal house-brewed ciders & meads) and Sugar Creek Brewing Company (offering live music and tasty food alongside their selection of local craft beer and cocktails). And if you find you’ve been over-indulging in the best of Charlotte’s craft beer, head over to Hive Fitness, LoSo’s boutique fitness club offering barre, yoga, personal training and more – just be sure you’ve allowed ample time for the spirits to leave your system before mounting that NEXTcycle bike.

Davidson

A short 20-minute drive north of the city of Charlotte, Davidson is a small town with big amenities, offering residents a close-knit community with proximity to a bustling metropolis. Founded in 1837 at the same time as Davidson College, the town of Davidson will naturally appeal to scholars and historians – but don’t count out foodies, art-lovers and anyone that enjoys the small-town charms of a historic college town. Davidson’s quintessential downtown area offers an array of restaurants that will become instant favorites, including  Davidson Wine Co (an urban winery and bistro with globally sourced, locally crafted wines paired with delectable bites), Kindred Restaurant (a foodie favorite with seasonal-inspired small dishes featuring contemporary cuisine of the new South) and Flatiron Kitchen + Taphouse (offering fresh, local and house-made dishes that deliver a big-city culinary experience in a small-town neighborhood).
