Suffolk Punch

No matter the time of day, it’s a good time to visit Suffolk Punch. That’s because this one-of-a-kind establishment is home to a brewery, coffee bar, American eatery & fermentation lab – all under one roof. Whether you’re in the mood for a divinely crafted cappuccino, a barrel-aged special release craft beer or a culinary dish made with locally and sustainably sourced seasonal ingredients, Suffolk Punch has got you covered. Enjoy your food and beverage of choice while dining at the row of picnic tables on the expansive outdoor patio or soak in the ambience of the sun-drenched indoor dining space, impressively outfitted with dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows. For those on the move, you can opt to order online and take your food to go – although we recommend pulling up a seat and staying awhile. Suffolk Punch is conveniently located on the Light Rail at New Bern Station.

Sycamore Brewing

Among the plethora of brewery options in South End, family-owned Sycamore Brewing stands out with its lineup of exceptionally fresh, tasty beer, brewed using only top-notch ingredients. Open seven days a week, the Sycamore Taproom offers patrons not just a menu of delectable craft beer, but tantalizing bites from Charlotte’s best food trucks, including My Sausage Buddy, Rollicious Ribs & More and Mike’s Vegan Cookout, among others. Sycamore’s expansive outdoor patio space and abundance of picnic tables encourage socializing among patrons and a robust calendar of events, including regular live music, makes the brewery a favorite destination among locals. Follow along on Instagram @sycamorebrewing to stay up-to-date on the Taproom’s latest beverage specialties and upcoming events.

Atherton Mill

Home to a number of upscale restaurants, residences and retailers, Atherton Mill is South End’s favorite destination for premiere dining, living and shopping. The outdoor retail center has been referred to as “the soul of South End,” boasting high-end shops that include West Elm, Anthropologie, Lululemon and Society Social. Located conveniently along the Rail Trail and offering a slew of dining options – including wine bar and shop, Vin Master, and the all-organic, made-from-scratch, Living Kitchen – Atherton Mill is a top choice among South End residents for gathering to eat, drink, shop and socialize.

Design Center

The Design Center of the Carolinas is a community of businesses who share a creative spirit and connection in the eclectic South End neighborhood. Home to a number of fine clothing boutiques and chic artisan shops, the Design Center is the go-to destination for those seeking one-of-a-kind pieces unique to South End’s thriving artistic community. In addition to retail shopping, the Design Center offers a variety of bites and brews, including the popular Hawkers Asian Street Fare, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and Pepperbox Doughnuts.

Rail Trail

A major asset to the South End neighborhood is the Rail Trail, a 3.5 mile public trail that runs along the Light Rail line, connecting South End to nearby Uptown. While this walking trail is an obvious favorite amongst outdoor adventurists, the Rail Trail also serves as a major source of community engagement for artists, students and the South End neighborhood, at large. Giant murals line certain sections of the Rail Trail’s perimeter and, depending upon the time of year, interactive light installations celebrate local artists’ work, serving as an attraction for tourists and locals, alike.

Skiptown

Designed with both four-legged friends and their humans in mind, Skiptown is a dog park like no other. Located in the heart of South End and featuring 2,000 square feet of lush, turfed outdoor and indoor play areas, Skiptown also boasts 24 beers on tap, making it a favorite play area for pups and their people. In addition to the Dog Bar and Park, Skiptown offers pet services, including boarding, daycare, home services and a self-serve dog wash. Membership is required for admittance or passes for daily and monthly entry are available.
